Acadie is set to music by Daniel Lanois, and inspired by Lanois' lyrics from his album of the same name: a dance-drama that follows a community in transition when economic pressures upend settled lives. The upheaval makes for tragedy and comedy by turns: four dancers play multiple roles performing choreography that captures folk dance idioms woven through a richly varied contemporary dance style.

Encounters is a mosaic of short scenes exploring human communication during charged moments of conflict, resolution, joy and resignation. We call our approach to framing these scenes, "dance-theater," employing gesture, spoken word, and literal "storytelling:" Employing a mix of didactic exposition and pure movement modes, our goal is to get close to and reveal the beating heart of humanity.
